Computer System Fundamentals

Introduction

This module provides students with a basic understanding of how the different components of a computer system work together to perform computational tasks. It covers the functional units of a computer, system software, and the different modes of operation for various applications.


Learning Objectives

By the end of this module, students will be able to:

  • Describe the functions and properties of the major components of a computer system and explain how they interact to perform tasks.

  • Explain the functions and properties of major peripheral devices and their uses in specific situations.

  • Demonstrate the use of utility programs for managing systems and files.

  • Understand the capabilities of different operating systems, and the basic concepts and applications of a computer network.

  • Explain the different modes of operation for various applications.

Time allocation: Approximately 20 hours
